Resources to Sustain Cultural Intelligence

Today, we share five resources to sustain cultural intelligence, ensuring your leadership thrives in Yaoundé or global workplaces. As Friday celebrates Cameroon’s resilience—from the storytelling circles of Maroua to the bustling ports of Limbe—we’re inspired to nurture lasting wisdom. At Lead from the Heart, we’re concluding May’s theme, Wisdom – Leading with Cultural Intelligence, with Kwame Nkrumah’s words: “Culture is not an ornament; it is the foundation of all human values.”

First, the CQ Reflection Log, a free download on our website, helps you track cultural insights weekly. In Cameroon, journal how a tontine’s communal spirit shaped a meeting in Bafoussam. Spend 10 minutes noting: “What cultural cue worked? How can I sustain it?” Globally, it mirrors reflective tools used by Microsoft. Try it this week to boost CQ Action. Our Strategic Offsite retreat (500,000 CFA) uses similar logs to sustain growth.

Second, read Cultural Intelligence by David Livermore, available in bookstores or online. Livermore’s practical CQ strategies—Drive, Knowledge, Strategy, Action—echo Cameroon’s need for adaptive leadership. For local leaders, it’s a guide to blending pidgin warmth with global clarity. Read one chapter this week, then discuss with a colleague to grow CQ Knowledge. Our Leadership Breakfast builds on such insights.

Third, use Evernote for Cultural Notes, a free app for capturing CQ learnings. In Cameroon, note a Bamenda colleague’s proverb during a palaver-style discussion. Globally, it supports hybrid teams, like Amazon’s knowledge-sharing. Spend 5 minutes weekly saving insights (e.g., “Respect shapes our feedback”). Review monthly to sustain CQ Strategy. Our Team Refresher retreat (250,000 CFA) teaches similar tools for ongoing learning.

Fourth, watch the TED Talk The Beauty of Being a Misfit by Lidia Nicolau (free on YouTube). Nicolau’s call to embrace diverse identities resonates with Cameroon’s ethnic tapestry. For local leaders, it’s a prompt to value unique voices, like in Kumba’s markets. Globally, it’s a CQ booster. After watching, share one takeaway with your team to spark CQ Drive. Our Vision Quest (January 2026, Limbe) uses such discussions to sustain wisdom.

Finally, join Lead from the Heart’s Leadership Hub on WhatsApp, a free community for sharing CQ tips. In Cameroon, it mirrors village councils, discussing how proverbs like “One hand cannot tie a bundle” sustain inclusion in Douala. Globally, it connects leaders with diverse insights. Post a question, like “How do you keep CQ alive?” to grow CQ Strategy. Engage weekly to make CQ a habit.

These resources—log, book, app, TED Talk, and Leadership Hub—sustain cultural intelligence. Start with one, like the CQ Reflection Log, and track its impact: Did it deepen your CQ? In Cameroon’s diverse heart and global markets, CQ endures, carrying May’s lessons into the future.
